A stunning and comprehensive guide to Banff-AsiniboineThis is the most beautiful book of this region that I have ever seen, and I have read dozens! Bases loaded with history : the story of Rickwood Field, America's oldest baseball park
Published in Unknown Binding by R. Boozer Press (01 May, 1995)
Average review score:

A Grand SlamWhat juicier scenario could a baseball fan ask for than to step up to the plate with the bases loaded?; made all the more wonderful when the man at the plate delivers. This book delivers. So captivating is this slice of baseball Americana that your easy chair transforms into a box seat; your reading lamp casts the shadows of stadium lights; your carpet takes on the hues of a well-manicured field; and each page becomes a score card. There's only one complaint - like any 9-inning game, it is over too soon. But the innings described here are full of baseball history with the likes of Mays, Cobb, Paige, Ruth, and Jackson. Indeed the bases are loaded and those that have played before us have swung for the fences and our author has given us a marvelous historical play-by-play.

Beach and Coastal Camping in Florida
Published in Paperback by University Press of Florida (T) (July, 1999)
Average review score:

Florida's wilderness surprisesI have always enjoyed the beach, and when I saw Johnny Molloy's book I bought it immediately. It did not disappoint. With the book as my guide I made a grand tour of Florida's marvelous coastline. First, I started at St. Joe State Park, where I walked the wilderness beach backed by huge dunes. Then I headed south to Cayo Coasta State Park, whsere the ferry took me out to the quiet island getaway. After that, I crossed the peninsula and went to Sebastian Inlet, where the surfers entertained me as much as the excellent fishing. My final stop was at Fort Clinch, up near the Georgia border, where I toured the brick fort and enjoyed the beach here and on nearby Big Talbot Island. The best part was the smoothness of my vacation-it went off without a hitch, mostly due to the accurate research of Johnny Molloy. I plan to make another beach tour soon. The Bedside Table
Published in Paperback by Southern Pub Group (January, 1997)
Average review score:

An enchanting taleA truly enchanting book, sure to be enjoyed by children and adults alike. An allegorical tale about unconditional love, it traces the life of a woman from her earliest girlhood memories through her coming of age and adulthood, as told through the eyes of an antique table that has been with her (both literally and figuratively) though her sweetest moments and deepest sorrows. The conclusion is both uplifting and heart-warming. Richly illustrated and touchingly told, this is a book you should read with your child, and then once more to yourself. I highly recommend it.

Best Easy Day Hikes Beartooths
Published in Digital by Falcon Publishing ()
Average review score:

IndispensableI live in southwest Montana, and I can say that this is really the best resource for those who want to explore the Beartooths. The amount of information provided for each hike is amazing - what an undertaking it must have been to put this together! The result is a very readable, most informative guide. There's a reason that there aren't a plethora of guides to the Beartooths on the market - it's been done right the first time.

Best Easy Day Hikes Glacier and Waterton Lakes (FalconGuide)
Published in Paperback by Falcon Publishing Company (May, 1998)
Average review score:

Very Good for the MoneyIts construction is not as durable as one would like for a reference to carry with you while hiking, but what can one expect for that small an asking price? However, the descriptions and maps for each hike are easy to understand--even for the novice hiker. 25 easy hikes are included in the book, with distance, degree of difficulty, time required, and elevation change included. There are no pictures in the book, but still its very well done.

The Best in Tent Camping: Smoky Mountains: A Guide for Campers Who Hate Rvs, Concrete Slabs, and Loud Portable Stereos
Published in Paperback by Menasha Ridge Press (April, 1997)
Average review score:

This guide set the stage for a great vacation!Definitely a must-have for camping in the Smokies. I was going camping there for the first time and I had no idea what to expect or where to go. I bought this guide and used it in planning my trip and selecting my campground. It was just as described--a beautiful, spacious campground with private, sheltered campsites surrounded by rhododendron bushes. This book allowed me to find exactly the kind of site I wanted. The author doesn't just list the campgrounds--any guide can do that--he describes the individual campsite arrangements as well. I know I never would have found this campground on my own. I'm going back again next year, and I'll be using this guide to choose my sites. I just wish this author would write campground recommendations for all of my destinations.

Best of Grand Canyon Nature Notes 1926-1935
Published in Paperback by Grand Canyon Association (June, 2003)
Average review score:

The best of Grand Canyon Nature Notes 1926-1935If you love the Grand Canyon, you will be delighted with this selection of naturalists articles written in the first half of the past century (!). Easy to read, most of the writing consisting of articles of a few lines to a few pages, you can open the book anywhere and transport yourself on or below the rim, at a time when a lot fewer tourists visited the canyon. The book is divided in three parts, Earth sciences (geology, river, sky and seasons), Life science (flora, fish, birds, mammals,) and Human history (archaeology, ethnobotany and history). Nice little B&W drawings throughout the book, this is a very good complement to a visit to the Grand Canyon or to any coffee table picture book on the Grand Canyon usually thin on writing.
